OAEA Scholarship Information

Hello OAEA Members!
 
This email is to alert you that the application deadline for the 2013 OAEA Undergraduate/ Graduate with Licensure Scholarship has been extended to July 19, 2013.
Two scholarships will be awarded.  One for $2000 and one for $1000  Please read the following information before filling out your online application.  
1.  It is recommended that you organize your information on the print application form prior to accessing the online application. Click here to access a hard copy of the application form.
2.  Sections of the online application are provided for you to upload your digital portfolio, letters of support, philosophy of teaching, essay and resume.  The total of all of these items cannot be more than 20MB in order to be uploaded successfully.  Please follow this link to upload your application: https://oaea.memberclicks.net/index.php?option=com_mc&view=mc&mcid=form_142495

Please read the details below:
SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
ELIGIBILITY: Undergraduate and graduate art education students who are pursuing licensure. Must be a full-time student in the 2013-2014 school year enrolled as a junior, senior, or graduate student.
Must be current student members of OAEA and be present at the OAEA Annual State Conference
Convention Awards Ceremony in 2013. (To join OAEA, please visit www.oaea.org for membership information).
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Postmarked by July 1, 2013 [Extended to July 19, 2013]
JUDGING: All entries will be reviewed and judged in July and August 2013. Winners will be
notified by the end of September and application materials will be returned to applicants.
JUDGING WEIGHT: 40% essay, 40% artwork, 10% philosophy, and 10% letters/transcripts
OAEA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
1. COMPLETED ENTRY FORM (see below)
2. ESSAY: Please write an essay about why you want to become an art teacher. How will your teaching promote critical thinking, creative exploration, and personal reflection in your students? Typed, double-spaced, 12-point font of 1200-1500 words. The APA style (6th edition) is required. Although Internet references are permitted, primary sources (books and journals) are encouraged.
3. e-PORTFOLIO: In a PowerPoint Presentation or in PDF format, compile images of 8-10 original works of art that show evidence of your contemporary artistic practice. Include titles, years, media, and dimensions under each image.  Use .jpg images (300 dpi, print size 5X7 inches or pixel size roughly 1500X2100. The e-Portfolio file size must be less than 10 megabytes). If your e-portfolio will not upload because it is too large, please contact Clayton Funk (funk.86@osu.edu) about specification for submission with a CD).
4. One or two LETTERS OF SUPPORT, one being from an art education faculty member
5. COPY OF TRANSCRIPT
6. A one-page personal PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING ART
7. RESUME′: List education, honors, awards, exhibitions, experiences with young people in schools and other settings, and other related activities.
